Why

Back in 1994, the first Podge lunch offered a snapshot of an industry. At the table were designers, printers, and me, a typesetter. With little planning and a fax machine to send invitations, we gathered the great and the good. Read more...Looking up from our plates, the creative and cultural diversity of today’s industry was notable by its absence. But as the design industry changed shape, so did Podge. Digital Podge, 21 this year, embraced a community that didn’t even exist in 1994. Stodge Podge in the north followed. Now, as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Podge it’s an opportunity to look ahead.Podge remains an opportunity for people to sit down together as competitors and friends and share ideas, challenges and opportunities over a few drinks and good food. But if Podge is a reflection of an industry that is more creatively and culturally diverse than ever before, it no longer seems important which part of the creative industry you are part of. Lines are blurred. Creating a space in which the leaders of today and tomorrow can connect, make and maintain connections is what Podge has always been about. People connect online, but we still believe in the importance of building relationships in the real world. It’s what makes Podge special. What struck us as odd, is that Podge lunches might be one of the last places where design and digital are separate. With all this in mind, we are going to mark 30 years of Design Podge and 21 years of Digital Podge by bringing the events together. One Podge to bind them all. We’ve even got a cracking new name. We’re calling it ‘The Podge Lunch’.Some may only have attended Design Podge or Digital Podge in the past. But the skills, expertise and ideas of each have been informing the other for years. So, we invite you to enjoy THE LAST SUPPER, as we give the original Podge a send-off to remember and usher in a new era. One that we are very excited to curate and one we know you will enjoy in equal measure! Cheers to 30 years!
